A historian and professor in the Master's in Public Diplomacy program at the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism at the University of Southern California. He was the founding director of this program and ran it from 2005 to 2019.

Cull's research and teaching interests are broad and inter-disciplinary, and focus on public diplomacy, the role of advocacy, culture, exchange, broadcasting, and public opinion research in foreign policy. Cull has also worked more broadly on the history of propaganda, film, television and radio history and the role of mass media as a source for historical study. He is best known for detailed historical studies of the institutions behind public diplomacy and for emphasizing the importance of "listening" as a pre-condition for successful public diplomacy. He coined the term reputational security for a category of enhanced security that comes to an international actor when they are well thought of by external audiences.

Cull is past president of the International Association for Media and History (2004-2019), and has worked closely with the British Council's Counterpoint Think Tank. He sits on the board of the Public Diplomacy Council and is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society. In April 2008, Cull's University of Southern California program was a co-winner of the Benjamin Franklin Award for Public Diplomacy, awarded by the U.S. Department of State.

Associate Professor in Diplomatic Studies at the University of Oxford and Head of the Oxford Digital Diplomacy Research Group. He also serves as a Faculty Fellow at the Center on Public Diplomacy at the University of Southern California and as a Professorial Lecturer at the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna.

His research focuses on the impact of digital technology on the conduct of diplomacy with a focus on strategic communication, digital influence and methods for countering digital propaganda.

Authored and edited six books, including the twin volumes on Countering Online Propaganda and Violent Extremism: The Dark Side of Digital Diplomacy (2018) – listed in the Best New International Relations Books To Read In 2019 - and Digital Diplomacy: Theory and Practice (2015). He is currently working on a new project “Diplomacy in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Evolution or Revolution?” examining the potential transformative impact of AI in consular affairs, crisis communication, public diplomacy, and international negotiation.

Dr. Katherine Brown is the President & CEO of Global Ties U.S., the largest and oldest citizen diplomacy network in the United States. She is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Georgetown University's Security Studies Program. Before joining Global Ties in 2018, Katherine was a Public Policy Manager at Facebook, Inc., where she was also in residence as a Council on Foreign Relations' (CFR) International Affairs Fellow.

Her U.S. government experience includes serving as the Executive Director of the U.S. Advisory Commission on Public Diplomacy; Professional Staff Member at the House Foreign Affairs Committee; Communications Advisor at the U.S.

Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan; and Assistant to the National Security Advisor at the White House. She received her Ph.D. in communications from Columbia University in 2013. Her book, "Your Country, Our War: The Press and Diplomacy in Afghanistan" was released by Oxford University Press in March 2019. She is a member of the Alliance for International Exchange Board and University of Southern California’s Center on Public Diplomacy Advisory Board, in addition to being a 2018-209 French American Foundation Young Leader. She lives with her husband and daughter in Washington, D.C.

Over the last twenty years, Simon Anholt has helped more than fifty countries to engage more productively and imaginatively with the international community, and to project their ‘soft power’ more effectively. He is recognised as the world’s leading authority on national image and as the creator of the terms ‘nation brand’, ‘place brand’ and ‘competitive identity’, amongst many others.He works as an independent advisor to national, city and regional governments around the world on topics ranging from national image to tourism and investment promotion, from hosting major events to public diplomacy and cultural relations.

He’s published several books about countries, their images and their role in the world. He also produces two major global surveys tracking public perceptions of countries and cities, the Anholt-Ipsos Nation Brands Index and City Brands Index, in partnership with the research group Ipsos-Mori. He is Founding Editor Emeritus of the academic journal, Place Branding and Public Diplomacy.

Departmental Lecturer in Global Governance and Diplomacy at the University of Oxford, where she lectures on Diplomacy and International Law, Digital Diplomacy, and Gender and Diplomacy. Her current research and PhD (2017) from the University of Oxford focused on the emerging discipline of Digital Diplomacy.

Jennifer produced the first edited volume on Gender and Diplomacy: Theory and Practice (Routledge).

Served on the advisory council for the Centre for Feminist Foreign Policy, having been chosen as one of the speakers for TEDxOxford, where she gave a talk entitled The Road Less Travelled: Why we need a Feminist Foreign Policy.

Served as a diplomatic attaché to Ireland’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations (New York), European External Action Service to the Kingdom of Cambodia, and Ireland’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade Headquarters during Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
