Welcome to “Cultural Diplomacy and Soft Power: Strategies for Global Influence”

In a world shaped by global competition, cultural narratives, and identity politics, diplomacy is no longer just about statecraft—it’s about storytelling, shared values, and cultural connection.

This course is designed for diplomats, international affairs professionals, NGO practitioners, cultural institute staff, and students who want to understand how culture is used as a powerful tool of foreign policy and influence. You will explore how states and non-state actors deploy culture, heritage, education, arts, and sport to build trust, improve international relationships, and shape perceptions across borders.

Over 5 in-depth modules, you will gain both theoretical grounding and real-world examples, engage with case studies from Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas, and learn to design and assess cultural diplomacy strategies of your own.
