DR. HANS-JACOB SCHINDLER, COORDINATOR OF ISIL (DA'ESH) & AL-QAIDA AND TALIBAN MONITORING TEAM, UNITED NATIONS SECURITY COUNCIL:
Dr. Schindler has wide international experience in diplomacy, intelligence and security. He was appointed Coordinator of the ISIL (Da’esh), al-Qaida and Taliban Sanctions Monitoring Team of the United Nations Security Council in July 2015, having served as an Expert in the Team since the beginning of 2013.
Prior to this, he worked as an associated partner for West Sands and an associated consultant for Stirling Assynt in in the United Kingdom as well as advisor to several companies in Europe. He consulted on security, political and economic issues concerning Iran, the Middle East, North Africa and the Gulf. In addition, he served as Program Director for the Institute for Strategic Dialogue in London, leading the Institute's foreign policy-centered program area. Having studied in Tübingen, Georgetown Washington D.C. and Israel, Hans holds a Masters and PhD degree in International Terrorism from St. Andrews University in Scotland.
Ambassador Dr Peter Poptchev, International Consultant and a retired long-time Bulgarian Ambassador-at-large of Energy and Climate Change:
The first Bulgarian Ambassador-at-large for Energy Security and Climate Change and National Coordinator for the Nabucco Project. Adviser to four successive Ministers of Economy and Energy. Part of negotiations on the South Stream agreement with Russia, and leading to the signature of the Intergovernmental Agreement on Nabucco. Qualified expert of the UN Secretary General to elaborate "guidelines and procedures for international investigations of alleged use of WMD" (1989) – (the manual later served to investigate alleged use of chemical weapons in Syria). Research work on strategic issues of international relations, defence and security, European integration, including transatlantic relations, crisis management, the wider Black Sea region, Eastern Partnership and EU Neighbourhood policy; Central Asia and the Caspian. An independent Foreign Policy, Energy and Climate Analyst, focus on establishing a functioning regional gas market in Central and South East Europe.
Dr Maria Fola, Nation Branding Expert and Communications Adviser:
Over 16 years of experience in marketing, PR and communications and brings a wide professional experience across different specialties, including journalism, corporate positioning, brand communications, media relations and events management. She currently supports the Bodossaki Foundation, one of the oldest charitable foundations set up in Greece, with particular focus on promoting the strengthening of the civil society in the country. She was on the Athens 2004 Olympics Organizing Committee. Maria holds an MSc in Media and Communications from the London School of Economics and a PhD in Political Sciences from the University of Crete. A native Greek speaker, Maria also speaks English, French and Italian.
